Eric Byford and Cary Ann Fuller met in 2014 over a few pours of whiskey and decided to tell the story of Kentucky bourbon through the lens of Beardforce Films. Months of on-location interviews and distillery tours led to years of editing. The two officially premiered the film in May of 2018 at the Nashville Film Festival. Straight Up: Kentucky Bourbon also showed at Louisville’s International Festival of Film, chosen as the event’s closing film, and was awarded Best Documentary at the SouthEastern International Film Festival.

Kentucky bourbon distillers, ambassadors, historians, and enthusiasts tell the tale of the rise of America’s Native Spirit. From humble beginnings on the farms of Kentucky, down the rivers to New Orleans, through Prohibition, and to the eventual rise of a culture celebrating the brown spirit, Straight Up: Kentucky Bourbon explores the rich and colorful history of this unique American liquor. Pour a long one and invite the likes of Master Distillers Jim Rutledge, Jimmy Russell, Fred Noe, and Julian Van Winkle into your home!
