Bourbon Heritage Month may be over, but the memories made at Straight Up 615 Presents An Evening With Four Roses will last forever! Huge thanks to Brent Elliott, Dan Gardner (even though he wasn’t able to join us), Four Roses Bourbon, the Urban Grub team, and to all that attended the event!
The bourbon line up was out of the park. We started with a barrel-aged Small Batch Manhattan before we got down to the serious business of the night. The tasting menu was expertly paired with Four Roses Small Batch Select, followed by a vertical tasting of Limited Edition Small Batches. The 2018 130th Anniversary, 2019, and 2020 releases took us through dinner before we broke into the newest addition to the Limited Edition line up. Dessert was served with the first tastes of the 2021 release and it did not disappoint.
2021 Limited Edition Small Batch includes 16-year-old OBSV, 14-year-old OBSQ, 12-year-old OESK, and 16-year-old OESV. The result is a mouthful of fall flavors- dark fruit balanced with spice and the perfect amount of oak influence. As a “bonus” to the evening, Brent surprised everyone with a farewell pour of his 2016 Elliott’s Select.
Brent talked yeast, recipes and all things Four Roses Bourbon in between courses. He joked that it’s hard to make a bad blend from the available stock. With aged barrels made of ten recipes from two mashbills and five proprietary yeast strains, the possibilities continue to delight.
